Triune
From Diablo Wiki
The Triune was one of the two leading cults on Sanctuary, several hundreds of years prior to the events of Diablo I (the other being the Cathedral of Light). Though it appeared to be a peaceful sect, it was in fact a secret foothold of the powers of the Burning Hells on Sanctuary. The Triune stars in the Sin War trilogy by Richard A. Knaak.

[edit] Organisation
The Triune had a temple in various major settlements, mainly in the eastern regions of Sanctuary. Each temple was subordinate to the main temple in Kehjan. The Triune consisted of three smaller cults, all bent on worshipping a guiding spirit, the alter egos of the three Prime Evils, and all three cults were watched over by the Primus, the highest religious authority. The three guiding spirits were named after the Prime Evils themselves, and were titled with exact opposite of the aspects of the Prime Evils. Unsuspecting initiates were lured into the cults, fooled by the seemingly kind guiding spirits. Gradually their hearts would darken as they dove deeper into the true teachings of the Triune, and the true spirits they served. The three guiding spirits were:
[edit] Dialon, spirit of Determination
Dialon was represented by a stubborn ram. In truth, followers of Dialon served the Prime Evil, Diablo, the Lord of Terror.
[edit] Bala, spirit of Creation
Bala was represented by a leaf. In truth, followers of Bala served the Prime Evil, Baal, the Lord of Destruction.
[edit] Mefis, spirit of Love
Mefis was represented by a red circle, the Kehjani emblem for the heart. In truth, followers of Mefis served the Prime Evil, Mephisto, the Lord of Hatred.
Each order was led by a highpriest, who answered directly to the Primus. Armed guards, dubbed Peace Warders, served as infantry when the need arose.
The Triune rapidly fell into disarray after the mysterious disappearance of the Primus. In the end, by the combined efforts of Uldyssian and his nephalem followers, the Triune was utterly destroyed.
[edit] Notable members:
- The Primus (Lucion), supreme high priest of the Triune;
- Malic, high-priest of the order of Mefis;
- Arihan, high-priest of the order of Dialon.

CAUTION: The following section contains content that has not been confirmed. At this point, it is pure speculation.
In the Diablo III artwork section, there is a piece of monster artwork named Triune Cultist. This might indicate the Triune will once again play a significant role in the unravelling storyline. It is unclear how the Triune managed to survive, as it seemed utterly defeated in the Sin War trilogy. However, many ages have gone past since then, possibly allowing the scattered remnants of the Triune to regroup. More information about the resurfacing Triune has yet to be revealed.
